KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and CEO: Kazunori Tsukada, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) has been selected for inclusion in the ESG investment indices FTSE4Good Index Series, FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Index,*1 and FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index.*1 This marks the second consecutive year that we have been selected for the FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index.
These indices are constructed by FTSE Russell, one of the world’s leading index providers, by evaluating companies’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and including as constituents those that meet its established criteria.
Overview of each index
FTSE4Good Index Series
An index family designed to measure the performance of companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices in global markets. It is widely used in the development and evaluation of sustainable investment funds and other financial products.
FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Index
An index designed to measure the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices. It is widely used in the development and evaluation of sustainable investment funds and other financial products.
FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index
An index that reflects the performance of Japanese companies with strong ESG practices relative to their sector and is designed to be sector neutral.*2 It is also aimed at promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy. To that end, for companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions, it includes only those that have been recognized for their improvement efforts based on the TPI Management Quality Score.*3

TPI stands for the Transition Pathway Initiative, established in 2017. The TPI Management Quality Score is an index that assesses the quality of a company’s management of risks and opportunities related to greenhouse gas emissions and the transition to decarbonized operations.
