Recognized as a FY2025 Eco-Ship Modal Shift Excellent Business Operator

KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and CEO: Kazunori Tsukada, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) is pleased to announce that its Toyama Technology & Manufacturing Center has been recognized as a FY2025 Eco-Ship Mark Excellent Business Operator by the Eco-Ship Modal Shift Project Selection Committee.

The Eco-Ship Mark Excellent Business Operator commendation is awarded by the Director-General of the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to shippers and logistics operators that are recognized as having made an outstanding contribution to modal shift to maritime transportation among businesses certified under the Eco-Ship Mark program. KOKUSAI ELECTRIC transports semiconductor production equipment produced at its Toyama Technology & Manufacturing Center in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, to Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture by maritime transport using the ferry service of Hankyu Ferry Co., Ltd., in collaboration with LOGISTEED Central Japan, Ltd. and Shinriku Unyu Co., Ltd. This initiative was recognized for achieving an approximately 18.4% reduction in CO2 emissions compared with land transportation. Taking this recognition as an opportunity, KOKUSAI ELECTRIC will continue to promote modal shift in the domestic logistics of its products and advance initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving transportation efficiency.
