The Toyama Technology & Manufacturing Center, which is engaged in the manufacturing and development of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, introduced in October 2022 “Toyama Mizu-no-Sato Denki” [Toyama Water Village Electricity], which is generated from a hydroelectric power plant operated by Toyama Prefecture, and in January 2024, they increased the ratio of usage from 10% to 20%.

“Toyama Mizu-no-Sato Denki” is one of the three electricity rate plans of “Toyama Mirai Sousei Denki” [Toyama Future Creating Electricity], an electricity supply brand created by Toyama Prefecture and Hokuriku Electric Power Company. Electricity is generated from a hydroelectric power plant operated by Toyama Prefecture and is provided to companies and other organizations in the prefecture that meet certain requirements, with the aim of supporting decarbonization and promoting the local consumption of locally produced energy.

This time, the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group increased the ratio of usage of “Toyama Mizu-no-Sato Denki” in the Toyama Technology & Manufacturing Center in order to reduce environmental load associated with our business activities as a responsibility of a globally operating company and contribute, as a company based in Toyama Prefecture, to the sustainable development of the prefecture and the revitalization of local communities. This center will continue to promote the introduction of natural energy and the transition to renewable energy in order to establish a net-zero* environment in the future.

Under the corporate slogan “Technology & Tai-wa for Tomorrow,” we will pursue economic, environmental, and social values from both business and ESG (resolving environmental and social issues and strengthening governance) aspects, with the aim of contributing to the achievement of SDGs and realizing a sustainable society and our group’s sustainable development.
