On October 25, 2023, KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION was listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. I express my sincerest thanks to the support and patronage of our stakeholders that made this possible. Now that we are a listed company, we are even more keenly aware of our social responsibility. Executives and employees will work together diligently as a team on both business activities and ESG initiatives such as resolving environmental and social issues and strengthening governance to ensure that we continue to live up to the public’s trust and exceptions.
The KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group is a specialized manufacturer of semiconductor manufacturing equipment with a high share of global markets for batch deposition and treatment (film property improvement) process, which operates businesses globally with a focus on deposition in the semiconductor manufacturing process. The Group's main customers are the world's foremost semiconductor manufacturers. We have been responding to customer needs through "Technology" and "Tai-wa*" for over 70 years since our foundation in 1949.
Our company began as one of the businesses operated by Kokusai Electric Co., Ltd. Later we became a business unit of Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc. Then in 2018 we split off from that company and made a fresh start as KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION, a specialized manufacturer of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Due to the increase in consumer demand for devices like smartphones and computers, and rise in industrial demand for such as data centers, 5G, generative AI, and investment in green transformation (GX) initiatives, the semiconductor device market surrounding the Group is expected to continue to grow dramatically. This has led to a shift to semiconductor devices with more complex, three-dimensional structures. Because the structures are becoming deeper, narrower, and more complex, and the surface area needed to be deposited is increasing, demand is growing for semiconductor manufacturing equipment with higher quality, higher performance, and higher productivity. Accordingly, the semiconductor manufacturing equipment market is also expected to grow considerably.
As a company that underpins the evolution of semiconductor devices, our mission is to provide the world with semiconductor manufacturing equipment that meets the accelerating need for high-density, high-performance semiconductor devices. This requires that we take on greater challenges. Never satisfied with the status quo, the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group will continue to produce innovations to meet the needs of customers by making day-to-day technological improvements.
The Group has renewed the Corporate Philosophy and established the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Way to deepen "Tai-wa" with stakeholders and express its determination to support the future through technology. To realize this new Corporate Philosophy, the Group will continue to make an all-out effort to support a future shaped by creativity and innovation under the corporate slogan, "Technology & Tai-wa for Tomorrow."
